Abstract

Multiculturalism is a reality or policy that emphasizes the uniqueness of different cultures in the context of cultural difference and diversity with the aim of overcoming racism,sexism and other varieties of prejudice and discrimination.It falls into two levels: descriptive and prescriptive.There are two concepts within multiculturalism: thin multiculturalism and thick multiculturalism.Despite admirable achievements,multiculturalism is confronted many difficulties and difficulty of toleration is one of them,that is,multiculturalism is premised on toleration but cannot guarantee authentic toleration.The reasons for that are its limited concept of toleration and misplaced limitation of toleration.
