Abstract

Objective To explore the electroneurogram features in the type 2 diabetic patients and the relationships between the results of electronerogram and history prolong.Methods The results of electronerogram(including the motor conduction velocity(MCV),the sensory conduction velocity(SCV),the compound muscle action potential(CAMP),and the sensory nerve action potential(SNAP))were measured in 138 continuous diabetic patients.Results The abnormal rate of nerve conduction studies was 18.75% in 1669 nerve in diabetic patients.The requency of abnormality rates of MCV in lower limbs(132/530,24.91%)were higher than those in in upper limbs(59/517,11.41%)(P0.0001).There were not significant difference of abnormality rates between the sensory(122/622,19.61%)and motor nerve(191/1047,18.24%)(P=0.5665).The SCV,the MCV,the CAMP and the SNAP in patients with the history of diabetes≥10 years were lower than in patients with the history of diabetes10 years.Conclusion Although the blood glucose got controlled,the abnormality of NCV is noted in these patients.In type 2 diabetic patients,more severe abnormal nerve conduction is found in lower limbs than in upper limbs,specially in motor nerves.The DPN is associated with the course of disease.
