Abstract

Objective To examine the risk factors and metabolism characteristics about 2 hours plasma glucose after glucose load in impaired fasting glucose population. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 3828 residents above 40 years old.Oral glucose tolerance test(75g glucose) was administrated for impaired fasting glucose. The risk factors and metabolism characteristics about 2 hours plasma glucose were analyzed. Results The prevalence of impaired glucose tolerance in impaired fasting glucose population was 41.22%,and it was higher in females(25.71%) than in males(15.51%).The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in impaired fasting glucose population was 20.82%,and it was higher in females(11.84%) than in males(8.98%).Regression analysis revealed that the fasting plasma glucose, age and body mass index were risk factors for 2 hours plasma glucose in IFG.Conclusion The prevalence of abnormal 2 hours plasma glucose in impaired fasting glucose population is 62.04%,it was higher in females than in males. The main risk factor that can be controlled was overweight.
