On the Relationship Between Modernism and Postmodernism

As one of the important thoughts of this century, modernism undoubtedly takes fairly important position in western present and contemporary literature. But in theoretical circle exist various opinions concerning such problems as modernist connotation, up-and-down limits, schools, etc. With the increasing reputation of postmodern cultural thought, new views have cropped out among the reflection on modernism, especially since 1960s. This article aims at probing into the pluralism of modernist theory from the angle of relationship between them.
