Abstract
Paraprotomyzon niulanjiangensis sp.nov.(Fig.1)Holotype:No.200306005,35.5?mm SL,collected form Niulanjiang(25°59′N,103°36′E),Zhanyi County,Yunnan,2 June 2003,deposited in the Fisheries Administration of Qujing,Yunnan. Paratypes:Nos.200306006(41?mm SL)and 200306009(37.5?mm SL),deposited in the Fisheries Administration of Qujing,Yunnan;paratypes:Nos.200306007(39.5?mm SL)and 200306008(39?mm SL),deposited in the Institute of Zoology,Chinese Academy of Sciences;paratypes:200306010(37?mm SL)and 200306011(39?mm SL),deposited in the Heilongtan Reservoir Administration,Shilin County,Yunnan. All paratypes have the same locality and same time as the holotype. D.iii-7;A.ii-5;P.i-19-22;V.i-15-17.Lateral scales 86-93. Depth of body in standard body length 6.1-6.5(6.3)(Unit:mm),width of body 4.7-4.9(4.7),length of head 4.7-4.9(4.8),length of caudal peduncle 6.5-6.8(6.7),depth of caudal peduncle 13.7-15.0(14.2). Depth of head in its length 1.6-2.0(1.8),width of head 1.0-1.1(1.0),length of snout 1.9-2.1(2.0),diameter of eye 5.3-6.0(5.7),width of interorbital space 2.1-2.2(2.1). Depth of caudal peduncle in its length 2.0-2.5(2.2). Width of mouth in width of head 3.1-4.2(3.8). Diagnosis. This new species is similar to P.bamaensis Tang and P.yunnanensis Li, Lu et Mao of the same genus by having small gill opening. But it can be distinguished from P.bamaensis by the following comparison:1)the new species has no lower lip laminae, the latter has the structure;2)the new species has lateral grooves behind rostral fold, the latter has no the structure;3)the ventral fin ray of the new species is i-15-17 vs. i-12-13 of the latter. The new species can be distinguished from P.yunnanensis by the following comparison:1)the new species has lateral grooves behind rostral fold, the latter has no the structure;2)the pectoral fin ray of the new species is i-19-22 vs. i-26 of the latter;3) the ventral fin ray of the new species is i-15-17 vs.i-20 of the latter.
