The Value of Serum C-reactive Protein in Diagnosis of Pediatric Pneumonia

Abstract

Objective To analyze and evaluate the serum C-reactive protein( CRP) level in diagnosis of pediatric pneumonia. Methods Total of 126 pediatric pneumonia in Maternal and Children Health Hospital of Ye County during Jun. 2012 and Jun. 2013 were selected as objects,and divided into bacterial pneumonia group( 51 cases),mycoplasma pneumonia group( 40 cases) and viral pneumonia group( 35cases),at the same time,52 healthy children for physical examination were selected as control group. The white blood cell count,CRP level and positive detection rate of each group were compared and analyzed.Results The white blood cells and CRP level of bacterial pneumonia group were significantly higher than the other three groups( P 0. 05),there was no statistically significant difference between mycoplasma pneumonia group and viral pneumonia mycoplasma on white blood cell count( P 0. 05),but CRP level was significantly higher than the viral pneumonia group( P 0. 05). The positive detection rate of white blood cells of bacteria pneumonia group,mycoplasma pneumonia group and viral pneumonia group had no statistically significant difference( P 0. 05),CRP positive rate of bacterial pneumonia had no significant difference from mycoplasma pneumonia group( P 0. 05),but they were both significantly higher than viral pneumonia group( P 0. 05). Conclusion The CRP levels of different pneumonia types were different,when excluding the other CRP elevating factors,it can be used as a method for differential diagnosis of pediatric pneumonia types.
