Abstract

A styrene-acrylate emulsion with core-shell structure modified by two silane couplers was prepared by seed emulsion polymerization when sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and OP-10 were used as emulsifier, and silane couplers such as γ-(2,3-epoxy propoxy) propyltrimethoxysilicane(KH-560) and vinyltriethoxysilane(DL-151) were introduced into styrene-acrylate copolymer. The structure, particle size and size distribution of modified emulsion were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),particle size analysis(PSA),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and other testing methods. The application performances were mensurated. The results showed that the modified emulsion and its film had optimal combination property because its average particle size was 146 nm,polydispersity index of particle size was 0.205,glass transition temperature(Tg) were-35.63 ℃ and 48.31 ℃ respectively, water absorption was 0.55%,pencil hardness was 2H,and some performances(such as film forming ability, adhesion and water resistant) were well when mass fraction of m(KH-560+DL-151) was 5% and molar ratio of n(KH-560)∶n(DL-151) was 1∶1.
