Abstract

The three outlets along the Jingjiang River are the waterways linking the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake. Based on the field data before and after operation of the Three Gorges Project, the flow and sediment diversion at the three outlets along the Jingjiang River and the trend of the flow diversion are analyzed. The result shows that the monthly distribution of runoff and sediment diversion will be more concentrated in June to September and less in October, however, the annual ratio of runoff changes little. Erosion along the Jingjiang River causes increase of the sediment diversion. The flow diversion at the three outlets along the Jingjiang River will change little after operation of the Three Gorges Project; if excluding the impact of erosion along the Jingjiang River, the sediment diversion also changes little.
