Abstract

Objective To determine a reliable surgical treatment for traumatic cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea. Methods The clinical data of 6 patients with traumatic cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea in our department were analyzed. Thin slice CT scanning and three-dimensional reconstruction were performed in all cases to diagnose. Pedicle periosteum flap and EC-adhensive were used in the operation. Results No one died. The cerebrospinal fluid leakage was stopped postoperatively in all cases, although one patient supervened intracranial infection after the operation. In all patients followed up for more than 4 months, one who had minimal recurrence 3 months after the operation had been given conservative treatment. Conclusion The reformed operative method and the application of EC-adhensive improved the success rate. It is an ideal approach to repair traumatic cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea.
