Abstract
The damage of secondary dust explosion is seriously greater than that of pure gas explosion or dust explosion. The coal dust explosion pressure P_ max and pressure rise rate(dp/dt)_ max were tested in a self-made device, where shock wave was produced by methane gas explosion. The effect of coal dust density and coal dust particle size on characteristic parameters was determined. It indicates that there is a suitable coal dust density value at which the coal dust explosion pressure is the maximum one. The smaller the particle size of coal dust is,the greater the explosion pressure is.
