Root canal therapy of residual root in the aged

Objective: To summarize cases of root canal therapy of residual root which can be restored by fixed restorations later. Methods: 134 residual roots in 102 cases received by root canal therapy. The roots were divided into supragingival and subgingival groups according to the height of the roots. The root canal therapy was completed with the procedure of gingivectomy, root length measurement, root canal preparation and root filling. Results: 132 residual roots were properly obturated with 2 exceptions because of calcified root canals. Conclusions: Residual root in aged can be restored with fixed restoration after sound root canal therapy.
