Abstract
Electromagnetic field theory,lumped-element circuit theoy and distributed circuit theory, based on maxwell′s equations, kirchhoff's laws, telegrapher's equation respectively, are the main methods to analyze electromagnetic problems. This paper, after analyzing the relationship between these theories, presents several examples of simplifying the analysis of electromagnetic field problems and discusses the limitation and several important points which should be paid attention to when applying circuit theory to analyze electromagnetic field problems.
