Abstract
The basic concept of fractal theory and the calculation methods of fractal dimension have been summed up,the important effects of fractal theory in the analysis of micro-morphology and micro-structure have been summarized.According to the fractal theory, the grain size distribution and the structure of pores in sinter have been studied. The results show that the grain size distribution and the structure of pores are fractal. The fractal dimension of the grain size distribution is a quantificational parameter, and a measurement of rupture resistance in the course of material's breaking up.The research of pores shows that the pores in sinter are multilayer-self-similitude,and the fractal characteristics are related to the mechanism of the pores' form.
