Abstract

Microscopic observations on anther development process of the cytoplasmic male sterile line 6-102A in Brassica juncea,6-102B(Maintainer Line) and 8-602A(Tour CMS) were carried out.The result showed that the male sterile line 6-102A was abortive completely, the abortion might occur at the stage of stamen anlage polarization. The stamen anlage deviated from the normal polarization and formed petal anlage. It could not form anther but developed into petal. Its abortion stage and characteristic differed from the cytoplasmic male sterility in rapeseed reported previonsln. The anther development of maintainer line 6-102B was normal. The abortion of 8-602A occurred from the archesporial cell stage to the tetrad stage, mainly at the stage of archesporial cell.
