Abstract
Using the oxidation-decoloration of 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol(PAN),a new method for the determination of the trace potassium bromate was established.The appropriate conditions for the oxidation of PAN by potassium bromate in hydrochloric acid medium were studied.The maximum absorption peak is located at 440 nm with an apparent molar absorption coefficient of 1.4×104L·mol-1·cm-1.The linear range is 4~20mg/L,the recovery was from 93% to 105%,relative standard deviation was 2.3%;detection limit was 1.09 mg/L.The proposed method has been applied in determining of trace potassium bromate in food sample with satisfactory results.
