Abstract

The first Chinese fir provenance orchard was constructed in Baiyunshan forest farm of Ji'an city in 1988, and the area of the orchard was 15 hm2. From 1990 to 1997 the mean annual seed yield reached 39.45 kg/hm2 and the mean germination percentage was 52.1%(the highest was up to 78%)which is far higher than national germination percentage standard for the first-class Chinese fir seeds(45%).Such an high germination percentage for Chinese fir is reported for the first time.
