Abstract

Since Song Dynasty,scholars have generally insisted that Zhu Xi's educational thought emphasizes onRespected Knowledge,and Lu Jiu-yuan emphasizes onPromoting Virtue.This misunderstanding is caused by confusing Zhu Xi's philo- sophical construction with his educational practice.Zhu Xi's philosophy is character- ized by emphasizing the investigation of objective knowledge,but in his educational thought,he consistently insists the internal unity of knowledge and virtue.
