Abstract
Yushen expressway is 88 km long, going through 9 mines with goaf. The goaf with pillar width and pillar intervals of 6-15m are all mined by room and pillar method and the overburden ranges 50-120m.This paper employed the discrete element code UDEC to simulate the stability of goaf under expressways. It investigated the patterns of overburden movement and surface subsidence due to the excavation of goaf, and analyzed major influential factors on goaf stability like goaf over drilling and expressway loadings.
