Simultaneous Determination of Thiabendazole and Carbendazim Residues in Fruits and Vegetables by Solid Phase Extraction and HPLC

Abstract

A solid phase extraction-high performance liquid chromatographic(HPLC) method was developed for the simultaneous analysis of carbendazim and thiabendazole in fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables samples were extracted with ethyl acetate, centrifuged and cleaned up with mixed-mode SPE, and carbendazim and thiabendazole residues were determined by HPLC with PAD using external standard method. The determination limit was 0.025 mg/kg for both. The recoveries were 71.3-92.5% for carbendazim and 70.7-84.2% for thiabendazole, and the relative standard deviations were all no more than 5.3%. The method meets analysis requirements of the determination of carbendazim and thiabendazole in fruits and vegetables.
