Clinical application of pleurodesis with flexible medical thoracoscopy by waterless talc on treatment of malignant pleural effusion

Abstract

【Objective】To investigate the therapeutic effection of pleurodesis with flexible medical thoracoscopy by waterless talc on treatment of malignant pleural effusion.【Methods】9 patients with malignant pleural effusion accepted waterless talc pleurodesis under thoracoscopy and the effects were observed.【Results】All operations were successfu1 with 2～3 g talc.The effective rate were 77.8%(7/9) and without serious complication.4 patients with thoracalgia and 3 patients with febrility had healing well in 1～2 days symptomatic treatment.【Conclusion】Proce-dure with flexible medical thoracoscopy by waterless talc is a safe and effective procedure on treatment of malignant pleural effusion.
