Abstract

OBJECTIVE An open randomized comparative study versus Rhinocort was conducted in order to examine the efficacy and safety of intranasal budesonide in the treatment of pernnial allergic rhinitis.METHODS 75 adult patients completed intranasal budesonide 200μg(38/76) and Rhinocort 200μg(37/76) once daily for 21 days.RESULTS After 7 days, the efficacy of intranasal budesonide was 76%, the efficacy of Rhinocort was 73%. After 21 days, the efficacy of intranasal budesonide was 92.11%, the efficacy of Rhinocort was 86.11%. The incidences of adverse events of intranasal budesonide and Rhinocort were 21.05% and 18.92% respectively. No serious adverse events were reported in the two groups. There were no significant changes in laboratory examinations .CONCLUSION Intranasal budesonide is effective and safe in relieving perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms.
