Abstract
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS) caused by PRRSV causes reproductive failure and respiratory disease in swine.PRRSV is an unsegmented and enveloped single strand RNA virus of the arterivirus group which contains 8 open reading frams(ORFs).The nonglycosylated membrane M protein encoded by ORF6 gene is one of the major structural and conservative proteins, and has good immunogenicity. Many researchers selected the ORF6 gene as a vaccine candidate and detection gene for further study. The article summarized the research progress on PRRSV M gene and application of vaccine and diagnosis.
