Abstract

OBJECTIVE To compare the changes of corneal topography between two groups of cataract patients with two different lengths of manual small incision cataract surgeries(MSICS)+IOL implantation.METHODS In group A,45 cataract eyes with nucleus grade IV were operated through 5.5 mm scleral tunnel incision and in group B,44 cataract eyes with nucleus grade V were operated through 6.5 mm scleral tunnel incision.The corneal topography was observed before operation and 1 week,1 month after surgery respectively.RESULTS 1.The index of CYL and ACP of group B was significantly higher than that of group A at 1 week and 1 month after surgery(P0.05).2.The index of SAI was higher in group B at 1 month after surgery,and no significant difference was detected between groups at 1 month after surgery(P0.05).There was no significant difference between two groups in SRI at 1 week and 1 month after surgery(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS 1.The 5.5 mm scleral tunnel incision in MSICS+IOL surgery has less influence on corneal astigmatism compared with the 6.5 mm scleral tunnel incision at the early postoperative stage.2.The lengths of two different scleral tunnel incisions have little influence on corneal regularity in the early postoperative stage.
