Abstract
The solvent effect on the distribution of some organic acids(methanoic,ethanoic,propanoic,butanoic,lacitic,benzoic,chloroethanoic,dichloroethanoic,trichloroethanoic,ethanedioic,propanedioic,butanedioic and hexanedioic acid)between water and organic solvent has been studied.The results show that butanoic and benzoic acids in inert solvent and all above acids in non inert solvent have noticeable distribution.The acid behaves as a monomerized solute in non inert solvent and dimerized in inert solvent.The solvent polarity in inert solvent,the cavity effect,dipole dipole interactions and hydrogen bonding forces in non inert solvent are the main factors influencing the distribution equibibrium respectively.
