The Expression and Significance of EphA2 and E-cadherin in epithelial Ovarian Cancer Tissue

Objective To investigate the relationship of EphA2 expression with E-cadherin,clinical pathological character in epithelial ovarian cancer tissue.Methods The positive expression rates ofEphA2 and E-cadherin in 60 cases of malignant epithelial ovarian cancer,14 cases of borderline epithelial cancer,25 cases of benign epithelial ovarian tumor and 10 cases of norma ovary tissue were detected using immunohistochemisty.Results The positive rates of EphA2 protein in normal ovary,benign epithelial ovarian cancer,and malignant epithelial ovarian cancer tissuewere 10.0%,30.0%,65.0%,respectively,and there were statistical differences(P0.01).The positive rates of E-cadherin protein in the above tissue were 90.0%,65.0%,45.0%,respectively,and there were statistical differences(P0.05).In the malignant ovarian carcinoma,the expression of EphA2 was negatively correlated with that of E-cadherin(r=-0.396).The expression level of EphA2 and E-cadherin was correlated with clinical stage,histological grade and lymph node metastasis.Conclusion EphA2 plays an important role in the progression and metastasis of epithelial ovarian cancer.The expression of EphA2 may be correlated with infiltration and metastasis of ovarian cancer.EphA2 and E-cadherin may have interaction.
