Investigation of caring ability of clinical nurses

Objective To investigate the status of nurses'caring ability and analyze the related factors,so as to provide reference for improving nurses'caring ability.Method A total of 172 clinical nurses who had been working one year and above in a 3A-level hospital in Beijing were investigated with a questionnaire of care ability.Results The total score of nurses'caring ability(189.42±17.23)was in a low level.The scores of cognitive dimension of charge nurses and above were higher than primary nurses and nurses(P0.05).The scores of cognitive dimension of nurses in international medical department outpatient and ward were higher than the department of internal medicine and surgery ward(P0.05).The caring ability of the nurses who had overseas experience,spouse and children were higher than others(P0.05).The age and working time were positively related to the cognitive dimension scores of nurses'caring ability(P0.01).Conclusions Nursing management department should refer the foreign advanced humanistic care and skills and strengthen the clinical nurses'caring ability.
