Abstract

Objective To test plasma adiponectin concentrations of coronary heart disease(CHD) patients and evaluate whether plasma adiponectin concetrations were associated with CHD.Methods Plasma adiponectin concentrations were measured using adiponectin ELISA kit in 219 casese CHD patients confirmed by coronary angiography and 187 casese angiographically negative patients.Plasma concentrations of fasting blood sugar(BS),total cholesterol(TC),triglycerin(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) were measured by routine method.Body mass index was calculated. Results Plasma adiponectin concentrations in CHD patients were significantly lower than those in the control subjects.Spearman partial correlation analysis showed that adiponectin was significantly negatively correlated with BS,systolic blood pressure,LDL-C and TG,and positively correlated with HDL-C after adjustment for age and sex.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that plasma adiponectin concentrations were independently correlated with CHD and its main risk factors. Conclusion Plasma adiponectin concentrations decrease in CHD patients and might be an new independent risk factor of CHD.
