Abstract

Objective:To explore the risk factors of primary carcinoma of the gallbladder and their treatment. Methods:A retrospective clinical analysis was made in 40 patients with pathologically proved gallbladder carcinoma who were admitted to and treated in our hospital from January 1990 to June 2002.Results:Among 40 cases of gallbladder carcinoma,29 were associated with gallstones.Six patients were associated with chronic hypotrophic cholecystitis.Three patients were associated with polypoid lesion. Conclusion:Gallstones, hypotrophic cholecystitis and polypoid lesion are associated with the development of gallbladder carcinoma.Finding and resection of the high risk lesions for gallbladder carcinoma on time can prevent formation of gallbladder carcinoma, which can improve the prognosis of gallbladder carcinoma.
