Abstract
Critical discourse analysis focuses on the relationship between language,power and ideology.The essence of news is objective and impartial presentation of facts,news seemingly objective,but it can influence readers' attitudes and values from the hidden ideological intention. Critical discourse analysis aims to reveal the hidden values and ideology and how they are reflected in the discourse. News reports often use the narrative of what other people say and how they say these words,therefore,reported speech plays an important role in news. In this paper,the author analysis the news' reported speech from the perspective of critical discourse analysis,which instances from BBC and VOA news. The purpose is to let readers know how the news media manipulate the audiences' ideology and values to news events,so that readers can understand the nature of news.
