It is obviously a monumental work after A Study of the Dunhuang Paintings by Matsumoto Eiichi and marked an important turning point in Dunhuang Studies and art history research in the twenty-first century. A work of great academic value across multiple disciplines, The Art History of Dunhuang Grottoes will certainly exert extensive and profound influence on future related research.
