Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Combined with Pulmonary Surfactant for Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Objective To investigate the effects of nasal continuous positive airway pressure(NCPAP) combined with pulmonary surfactant(PS) for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Methods23 cases with ARDS underwent NCPAP combined with PS.The clinical characteristics and result of blood gas analysis were evaluated.ResultsThe symptoms of cyanosis and breathing difficulties disappeared or reduced in 20 cases.The lung permeability showed by X-ray was improved obviously.Three cases altered to convention mechanical ventilation(CMV) because of the condition became more serious.1 case gave up and 2 cases died.ConclusionsNCPAP combined with PS have a good effect for ARDS.It can decrease the requirement for respiratory machine by preventing respiratory distress syndrome.
