Abstract
Vector Quantization is a very important signal compression method with rich application in wide fields such as image signal compression and speech signal compression. The key problem of VQ is the design of codebook. In the codebook design process, many algorithms were presented and used to design the codebook. In this paper, the PSO-LBG algorithm which based on the PSO algorithm and the LBG algorithm is presented for the design of codebook. This algorithm improves the codebook quality and enhances the convergence rate.
