Abstract

A study was conducted on the potential yields of 6 maize varieties as the main varieties in Yellow River Irrigation Area of Ningxia at 3 different planting density adopting split plot design under field cultivation conditions. The results showed that the yields of Xianyu 335,Zhengda 12,Ningyu 524 and LB-5 increased with the increases of the planting density, the yield of Zhengdan 958 decreased with the increase of the planting density and the effect of the planting density on the yield was not significant, the yield of Dongdan 60 decreased first and then increased with the increase of the planting density and the effect of the planting density on the yield was significant. It can be seen from the differences in the yield of different maize varieties under the different planting density that the yield range of 6 maize varieties are from 14 553.00 kg/hm2 to 19 181.10 kg/hm2 and the yield of LB-5 changes more significantly than those of the other varieties under the different planting density.
