Abstract

Based on the urban statistical data of Northeast China during 2003-2005,the urban competitiveness was analyzed by the global and local spatial autocorrelation to reveal the spatial autocorrelation, spatial heterogeneity and the mechanism of spatial interaction. The results are as followed:spatial autocorrelation exists in competitiveness among the whole 36 cities of Northeast China. It shows that there is holistic spatial agglomeration in the urban economic development, and the degrees of spatial agglomeration become more and more strengthened from 2003 to 2005.For the urban competitiveness of spatial heterogeneity it can be found that the competitiveness of the eastern and southern cities is better than those in the west, and this phenomenon tend to strengthen in agglomeration. At the same time, the urban competitiveness has been improved during 2003-2005 while the difference of adjacent cities decreased. The regional urban competitiveness tends to balance.
