Abstract
[Objective]The aim was to determine the dissolved oxygen in polyethylene glycol (PEG) aqueous solution.[Method]Based on the determination of dissolved oxygen in water by iodimetry, the dissolved oxygen in PEG aqueous solution was determined by spectrophotometry.Meanwhile, effects of PEG molecular weight and concentration on the determination were studied.[Result]Under the given conditions, the maximum relative error of determination between spectrophotometry and iodimetry was 2.25%.Under the same concentrations of PEG,the mass concentration of dissolved oxygen in PEG aqueous solution decreased with the increase of PEG molecular weight, and under the same molecular weight of PEG,it decreased with the increase of PEG concentration.[Conclusion]It is feasible to determine the dissolved oxygen in PEG aqueous solution by spectrophotometry.
