Abstract
Candida tropicalis was isolated from activated sludge. The strain could utilize phenol as a carbon and energy source. And its capacity of phenol biodegradation reached(2 000) mg/L.By the studies on cell growth and phenol biodegradation under the conditions of different temperature,pH and phenol concentration, the phenol-degrading conditions were optimized, and the kinetic model of cell growth was obtained.
