The Variations of Seedling Growth Among Provenances in Toona sinensis

Abstract
One-year-old seedlings of Toona sinensis from 14 provenances were used to explore the variations among provenances of growth traits.The results showed that remarkable variations were found among provenances for those growth traits investigated as height,diameter and biomass.And also,great variations were found among individuals within provenance for growth traits.July to September was the main period for height growth of Toona sinensis.A south to north cline was found for growth of Toona sinensis.Finally,two superior provenances of Nanjing in Jiangsu and Dongkou in Hunan were selected upon general assessment.
