Mini-incision for total hip arthroplasty

Objective: To study priliminarily the advantage of mini-incision for total hip arthroplasty (THA).Method:Compared a mini-incision technique and traditional posterior approach for THA.Nine patients who undergone a mini-incision THA were matched by 9 patients with similar conditions.The contrastive items included incision length,blood lose in operation,the postoperative drainage,operative time,postoperative pain,hospitalized days,expenses,early activity,complication and Harris scores.Result:In the similar conditions,it is found that blood lose in operative,the postoperative drainage,operative time,postoperative pain,hospitalized days and expenses were reduced significantly.There were no any influence to the operation success.Conclusion:Mini-incision technique is practicable.
