Investigation of Suppling Water,Sanitation & Hygiene Facilities of Rural Schools in Anhui Province in 2005

Objective To understand the situation about water and environmental hygienic facilities of rural schools so as to provide a basis for rural school hygiene work.Methods According to geographic position of our province,All rural middle and junior schools registed in education authority(not including private schools) in countryside from 8 counties(regions) were selected for investigation.Results In this investigation,a general investigation was conducted on 2,132 rural middle and junior schools in 8 project counties.Among them,285 were middle schools and 1,847 were junior schools.19.47% rural schools in our province could provide safe drinking water.The popularization percent of sanitary toilets was 5.11%.Toilets and hand washing facilities of schools were shared by teachers and students.Conclusions The hygienic safety of drinking water of rural schools in our province was indispensable,the water and environmental hygiene facilities of rural schools in our province were in a relatively backward and underdeveloped stage.
