Abstract

Objective:To compare the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life(OHRQoL) before and after treatment among elderly edentulous patients with their first complete denture using the Chinese version of Geriatric Oral health Assessment Index(GOHAI).Methods:A total of 80 old completely edentulous patients were invited to answer the questions on the Chinese version of GOHAI before and 1 month after placement of complete denture.Results:The changes in the scores of 7 of the 12 items between pre-and post-denture insertion were statistically significant(P 0.05);The GOHAI total score significantly increased from 30.67 to 41.45(P 0.05).Conclusion:Not only physical but also psychosocial functions were improved after the placement of complete dentures.
