Abstract

Objective: To observe the both changes of blood flow dynamics and Doppler effect in the patients suffering vertebral artery type of cervical spondylopathy with unilateral stenosis of vertebral artery by high frequency color Doppler diagnostic apparatus. Methods: 78 cases of patients suffering vertebral artery type of cervical spondylopathy with unilateral inner diameter ≤2.5mm were chosen and the morphological changes, inner diameter (D),average velocity of blood flow(TAMX),resistance index(RI) and blood flow volume(Q) of stenostic side were observed and compared with contralateral artery and another 100 normal cases. Results: There were significant differences between three groups in D、RI、Q(P0.01)and significant difference between stenostic and contralateral artery in TAMX(P0.01).There was no significant change of TAMX when normal artery were compared with stenostic and contralateral artery(P0.05).Conclusion: The high frequency color Doppler ultrasound technique can provided valuable judgment on the blood flow dynamic changes of the stenostic artery and the compensated capability of the contralateral artery.
