Variations of Youth Culture: From Youth Rebellion to the Cultural Consumption of Youth Aesthetic

In Twentieth century, youth lifestyle and youth issues become the focus of public attention. In Western society, the youth rebellion ideologies leaded and participated by young people have seriously affected social history, but after the 1960s, the youth storms rapidly transformed into a consumer behavior. While youth is an important role on the twentieth century Chinese history stage, but Chinese society and culture does not provide youth with their social identity and cultural space. The hybridity of resistance sub-culture, elegant cultural and popular cultures constitute the culture food of contemporary Chinese youth. In particular, popular culture which seize the unique cultural needs and individual expression aspirations of young people achieves the pan- youth-oriented entertainment of contemporary Chinese entertainment cultural.
