Abstract
AIM:To compare the short-term curative effects of terbutaline vs aminophylline in treatment of pediatric asthmatic diseases. METHODS: Terbutaline group (M 24, F 26; age 4±s 3 a, asthmatic bronchitis 23 cases, infant asthma 14 cases and children bronchial asthma 13 cases) received terbutaline 0. 05 mg/kg, po, tid, for 7 d. Aminophylline group(M 18, F32; age 5±3 a, asthmatic bronchitis 21 cases, infant asthma 16 cases and children bronchial asthma 13 cases) received aminophylline 3-5 mg / kg, po, tid, for 7 d. Penicillin of customary dose was used for preventing infections in 2 groups. RESULTS: The total response rates were 92% in terbutaline group and 60% in amillophylline group(P0.05), No serious adverse reaction was observed. CONCLUSION: The curative effect of terbutaline was better than that of aminophylline in treatment of pediatric asthmatic diseases.
