The Theoretical Basis of the Confucian Governing Ideas

The Third Plenary Session of the 18 th CPC Central Committee points out that the general purpose of deepening its all-round reform is to improve and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics and push on with modernization of the country's governing system and capabilities. The choice of governing system is made by the people according to the history,cultural tradition,social and economic development level. Confucianism is one of the most influential schools in ancient China,of which the Confucian governing idea lays the foundation on the theory of human nature,the people-centered theory and the doctrine of the mean. The theory of human nature is the philosophical basis of the Confucian governing ideas; the people-centered theory is the core value of the Confucian governing ideas; the doctrine of the mean is the thinking method of the Confucian governing ideas. We should clarify the theoretical basis of Confucian governing idea and draw lessons from it,which is useful for the modernization of China's current governing system.
