Abstract
The process for the synthesis of dimethyl succinylsuccinate was proposed by reacting sodium methoxide with dimethyl succinate in the presence of excess dimethyl succinate used as the reaction solvent. The effects of raw material ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time on the yield of the product were studied. Under the optimized process conditions followed as: molar ratio of dimethyl succinate to sodium methoxide methylate=43∶1, reaction temperature 100℃, reflux reaction time 25~30 minutes, dimethyl succinylsuccinate with high quanlity(≥975%) was obtained in a yield of 801% based on the dimethyl succinate.
