Abstract

Objective To observe the change of corneal haze over a long period of time after PRK for hypermyopia.Methods significant corneal haze was observed in 7 eyes of hypermyopia treated with PRK and follow up 5 years.Results subepithelial opacification of the anterior stroma in all 7 myopic eyes gradually increased after PRK,reaching a maximum at 3 to 6 months:moderate haze.Although a standard topical corticosteroid regimen was used,the opacification was continue.It began to change as following up to 3 years.The corneal began to clear up slowly,up to 4 years there were no eyes stayed in moderate haze,4 of 7 eyes decreased from moderate to mild haze,3 eyes to trace,and at the 5 years 4 eyes decreased to trace.Conclusion The corneal haze after PRK of hypermyopia had a tendency that clear up gradually.
