Abstract

The paper introduces the concepts, software and hardware structure, principle, characteristics and applications of virtual instrument. Also it forwards a project of virtual instrument based on multifunction data acquisition card (DAQ) to illustrate the design method and the feature of the virtual instrument. And its continuous evolution and practices shows that the virtual instrument system which based on computer technique in information era will gradually take the place of the traditional instrument.
