Worship of Founding Ancestor in Taiwan and Establishment of Family Image——According to the Genealogies of Hakka Immigrants in Central Taiwan

According to the legends of founding ancestor written in the genealogies of Central Taiwan Hakka immigrants in Qing Dynasty,this paper investigate the process of setting up family image by those immigrants under the complicated condition of certain local society at that time.Despite of such difficult situation,family cannot merely survive and develop but can also lay the foundations of family prosperity.Due to worship of founding ancestor in Taiwan,exciting legends in the course of development were recorded in the genealogy to produce a family self-reference system,by which family members can review themselves.The ancestral hall and establishment of the common family property to offer sacrifices build up a network to communicate the family members with each other.The basic criterion is derived from common understanding of the family members by the course of compiling the genealogy.When the work of compiling genealogy is finished,it shows that the family has already gotten to a common view,and operation of the family organization is also systematic.After abstract spirit of clan and concrete economic life have been both established,the process of family immigration is completed.
