Abstract

Estimating or determining evapotranspiration accurately could promote water use efficiency. It might also provide the scientific basis for reasonable deployment of water resources and sustainable management on forest vegetation. Penman-Monteith Equation is widely used for estimating or determining plant evapotranspiration. This paper presented the development and the calculation method of Penman-Monteith Equation. The Penman-Monteith Equation and some modified Penman-Monteith equations were summarized. The present state, existing problems and future tendency of using Penman-Monteith Equation to study forest vegetation evapotranspiration were analyzed. It provides useful help or reference for further study and wider application of Penman-Monteith Equation.
