Abstract
Cotton fabric strength is suffered loss apparently after durable pressure finishing. The strength loss was attributed to two main factors: acid-catalyzed depolymerization and crosslinking of cellulose molecules. In this research, we investigated the reason of the strength loss and used a strength progressing agent for adjusting the pH value of finishing bath. This can reduce the degree of acid hydrolysis of cellulose. So the tensile strength retention of cotton fabric has improved.
